Harsco Rail traces its beginning back to 1905 when it was manufacturing small, single cylinder 2-cycle gasoline engines in Fairmont, Minnesota. Incorporated in 1909 as Fairmont Machine Company, this company (along with other acquisitions) was destined to become the largest manufacturer of railway maintenance in North America.
Today, Harsco Rail is a major international supplier to the world's railways of track construction and maintenance equipment. Harsco Rail designs and manufactures an extensive line of equipment including Hy-Rail guide wheel attachments to adapt road vehicles for railway applications; rail grinders used to reshape the rail profile and tampers to surface and align track. Harsco Rail contract services include rail grinding, new track construction, track renewal and track and turnout undercutting.
Harsco Rail provides engineering, sales, parts, service and maintenance from five main locations in the United States, England and Australia.
